Withdrawal of proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy in chronically hypomagnesaemic patients

We studied 5 female patients, aged 54–79 years old (mean 70.6 years), on PPI therapy for 2–13 years (mean 8.2 years), who were symptomatic from chronic and sometimes severe hypomagnesaemia (lowest readings 0.36, 0.29, & <0.21 mmol/l in 3 patients) for 7–45 months (mean 29.2 months).
